DUE TO an ATTEMPT TO RESTRICT THE ABORTION LAW POLISH WOMEN REFUSED TO REMAIN SILENT.
THEIR ANGER EXPLODED, THEN SPREAD WITH LIGHTNING SPEED ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
About
The aUtumn of 2020 thunderEd with enoRmous anger of PoLish women.
The spark that ignited that storm of rage was a ruling of the Constitutional Tribunal, which stated on October 22nd that abortion due to fetal defects was unconstitutional. This decision would make the Polish abortion law, which is already one of the most restrictive in Europe, even more restrictive. Women said NO.
Regardless of the pandemic, a wave of mass female protests flooded the country. Mostly young women supported by their partners and sympathizers, marched out into the streets, defending the right to decide about their own bodies and lives.
Armed with clothes hangers (symbols of a life-threatening method of self-induced abortion), black umbrellas (2016 strike prop), homemade cardboard banners and coffee to go protesters were expressing their indignation not only once, but continuously for many days in a row.

Their demonstrations took various, previously unknown, forms: nationwide all-day-long women's strike, traffic blockade, bike blockade, techno blockade, paralyzing traffic on the main streets of cities and towns for many days. The protest brought together many different groups and organizations and turned into a rebellion against the ruling party and the Catholic Church which supported it.
